Cat Ferrari Bio 2026
Cat Ferrari quietly released a banger album at the beginning of the summer. The self-titled vinyl record contained 5 new songs by “Cat Ferrari”, the Charlottesville rock band fronted by Matt Curreri. Side B contained 8 songs from Curreri’s substantial catalog of independent releases and collaborations. Cat Ferrari is the first band recording from Matt since he retired “The Exfriends” moniker, exhibited through the years on Side B.
The Cat Ferrari EP represents a community collaboration with the bandmembers, Thomas Dean at Infinite Repeats printing press, recording help from The David Wax Museum and Lowland Hum, and design contributions from Amanda Polson and Lanz Travers.
The Cat Ferrari songs feature Matt on piano and vocals. His brother Paul Curreri, a recording and musical powerhouse, mixed the record, played bass, and sang vocal harmonies. Tenor saxophone and trombone feature strongly throughout the music. The parts are written by Matt and played by Becca Bauer and Ian Greene. Jesse Fiske plays a rowdy and moody rock drum set throughout.
The band has been playing in this formation for a couple of years. Their shows are infrequent but consistently excellent. The new release is our first chance to listen to these unique compositions played by this competent group of musical friends in our speakers and headphones.
